The statue of Richard I, Old Palace Yard - drawing; watercolour

Italian sculptor Baron Carlo Marochetti created this bronze equestrian statue of Richard I, 'the Lionheart'. It originally stood outside the Crystal Palace in Hyde Park, close to the current site of the Albert Memorial. The statue was relocated in 1860 to the Old Palace Yard, outside the Houses of Parliament at the Peers Entrance. Although this atmospheric watercolour is signed J W W in the right corner, the artist and a date have not yet been identified.
