Souvenir Programme of the Victory Parade - programme

This is a souvenir programme of the Second World War Victory Parade, which was on 8 June 1946. The front cover carries photos of the king and queen. Inside are details of the routes through London of the two 'columns'. The marching column, approaching Parliament Square from the west, was led by the RAF central band and included representatives of the Royal Navy, army, Fishing Fleets, The Home Guard and Women's Services. The mechanised column travelling from the east consisted of modern vehicles and weapons used by the military and civil defence. Joining the celebrations were 500 servicemen from Australia and South Africa and 3,000 children from youth organisations around the country.
