Albert Roy Luxton - postcard
- Description:
- This photographic postcard shows Albert Roy Luxton, who was killed in a bus accident at Highgate on 8 June 1912, aged 34 years. Mr Luxton was a bus driving instructor at the London General Omnibus Company. He had been on the bus with three learner drivers, one of whom was driving. On Highgate Hill, the brakes failed. Luxton took over the wheel but was unable to regain control of the bus. He sustained serious injuries in the resulting crash, and later died in hospital. Luxton was hailed a hero by the L.G.O.C. and the public. His funeral procession was a grand affair and large crowds gathered to pay their respects.
