Exterior view of Victoria bus station with buses outside - photograph

This is a view of Victoria bus station in 1927. The photo was taken from the mainline station. The Underground station is just visible on the right. The structure on the left is the control tower. From here, London General Omnibus Company (L.G.O.C.) staff would monitor the arrival and departure of the buses. On the outside of the tower is the L.G.O.C. logo. A modified version became recognisable as the London Transport roundel later in the century. A number of buses are lined up at the stops, some open-topped and some covered. Passengers are waiting on the concourse.
