Day trippers eating lunch at the Derby - photograph

The London bus companies laid on transport for the thousands of Londoners who went to the Epsom Derby every year. Organised excursions could include lunch for the day-trippers. These people are seated at tables on the open-top decks of a row of buses. A meal had been served with bottles of ale and other drinks. On the left a man is peering through his glasses towards the track.
