Poster frame and light from Angel station - poster frame

During the 1920s, Operations Manager of the Underground Group Frank Pick introduced measures to reduce the number of posters displayed in stations, and assign them to restricted areas. The many commercial posters put up by the railway were beginning to obscure important signs such as the station names. This poster frame, lit from above, was designed to control the format and layout of advertising by accommodating only posters of a specified size. It is from the entrance of Angel station, and incorporates the station name and the L.T. company roundel symbol.
