Irish Dancing Dress - dress

This dress was worn by a pupil of the Bradley Academy of Irish Dancing in the early 1990s. The dress is embroidered by machine with Celtic designs taken from the Book of Kells, the famous illuminated Irish manuscript of the Gospels. The Academy stages the Southern England Championships in Croydon every July. In the 1990s, about 350 children attended Irish dancing classes in Croydon every week.
