bonnet badge from Orpington Car

This is an enamelled brass bonnet badge from the Orpington Car. Frank Smith and Jack Milroy began production of the car in 1920 from their Orpington garage. Despite it winning medals for finishing runs from London to Edinburgh and London to Land's End and having an economic price of 495 only 21 cars were ever produced. Demand for the car decreased as larger competitors began producing smaller, cheaper cars and the garage was eventually forced to close.
