Homeless in Hackney -

Description:
This pamphlet was produced in 1981 to publicise the issue of homelessness in Hackney. It includes a case study of a family forced to live in two squalid hotel rooms after losing their home. The issue of housing and homelessness was a major one in London throughout the 20th Century. It encompassed both rough sleepers, and families who were forced to live in inadequate conditions in hotels or hostels. Campaigns on the issue became more prominent when the drama ?Cathy Come Home? (directed by Ken Loach) was shown on television in 1966.
